Master Seb, 3.5 and Miss Nina 1.5 | Children photography, Hobart Tasmania

Last Friday I very very excitedly purchased a new lens. This has been my dream lens FOREVER (well it feels like it, but really, it’s been about 5 years). A brand spanking new 70-200 2.8 IS II. Oh my goodness it is rocking my socks! I am in awe of the images I can now produce. I have an outdoor family session coming up this Saturday and so I have been practicing with it to really learn how to nail portraits with it. I am definitely glad that I decided to practice because it has taken some getting used to! All of my first images were very slightly out of focus, I was very disappointed, but even more determined. So I have taken my children to the Salmon Ponds two days in a row to practice on them. (The Salmon Ponds are so beautiful!). So here are some of my first shots out of my new lens. Please note I did not dress them with ‘photosession’ in mind, but rather ‘we are going to get messy today and mummy needs to practice on you!’ haha, so these are purely test images. But do I love them? heck yes! These will be going in the family album! Messy hair or not, we had a blast 🙂

I am so happy with the images from today, I nailed it every time, hooray! So look out Costin family on Saturday, you have lens awesomeness coming your way!

So, allow me to introduce MY children. Miss Nina is very defiant, independent and stubborn. I have NO IDEA where she got ANY of those traits from! You’ll notice a red spot on her lip. That is where she had an argument with the concrete on Saturday morning, right before our very own family photos – ARGH! Don’t be fooled by her tough exterior, she is super snuggly, loves to sing with me and her favourite place to be is in my arms, reading a book and snuggling her horsey.

Sebastian, master 3.5 is…well..THREE and all of the wonderful things that goes along with that. But underneath all of that he is SO helpful, caring and loving. His favourite place to be is right by my side offering to help in any way that he can, he is so sweet! He is also at that ‘pull silly faces’ stage. Can you tell? Yes, even photographers children go through that stage, as frustrating as it is 😉
