Deanne and Brad – Married! | Hobart wedding photographer, Katinka Smith

Weddings and Love,

On 14 November 2014 at Frogmore Creek in the Coal Valley, Tasmania, a beautiful and intimate wedding was had. Brad and Deanne were married in the presence of their close family and friends and it was lovely. The rain threatened all morning and finally sprinkled us during the ceremony – but the Bride and Groom weathered it in style.

The cloud cover was every photographer’s dream for a midday wedding and it meant that we got to utilise most of the venue for photos as well. The staff at the Winery were WONDERFUL! Very friendly and not one detail was overlooked. Maxine Lowry was their fabulous celebrant ensuring that everything ran smoothly.

Thank you Deanne and Brad for inviting me to photograph your wedding, it was a lovely event!

Thank you also to Ron Franks for assisting me with the wedding and photographing his very first wedding – he did a GREAT job!

Weddings and Love

8 November 2014, Tasmanian Royal Botanical Gardens, One girl, one ring, 20 signs, lots of family and friends, one unsuspecting guy…A PROPOSAL!

Josh’s brother, Simon had one task ‘please occupy your brother for the morning’. So he did, he took him for a mammoth mountain bike ride on the North South Track (23km for those not familiar with it) followed by a leisurely ride from Tolosa St, Glenorchy into Hobart (just another lazy 20km). It was pretty warm on Saturday, but thankfully cooled off right before the surprise proposal was scheduled to begin.

Josh had no idea, and here is what was awaiting him when he finally arrived….

Introducing sweet baby Felix | Hobart newborn photographer, Katinka Smith

Newborns
I recently had the pleasure of photographing gorgeous newborn Felix in his home with his mum Abby and dad Nick. It was clear that Abby and Nick had put so much effort into the nursery that I made sure to include some images in their set – I love nurseries that are created with love and effort like this! I’m the first to admit that I am seriously lacking in the interior design space, so I admire others that are so clever!

When Nick came out in a shirt for the parent shots with a logo on it my first thought was ‘Um Nick, logos are distracting’, and then I quickly realised exactly what I was looking at – ART! I have seen Nick’s work before, but I didn’t make the connection until that moment. Nick Hills is an awesome Tasmanian artist and the design on the back of his shirt is one of his designs – btw, you can buy them, check out the Tassie clothing company ‘Burial Brand’ HERE for designs by Nick Hills and other local Australian artists! So of course his shirt with his design HAD to feature in photos with his son, how could it not! So we especially did the pose with Felix’s head resting on Nick’s shoulder so that two special things that he has created could be featured in the one photo together. 🙂

Crystal turns ONE | Hobart family photographer, Katinka Smith

I recently spent some time with darling Crystal and her family to capture some memories of her turning one! (You can view images from her newborn session way back here!) We started with a few casual lifestyle images on mummy and daddy’s bed, then a colourful rainbow cake smash followed up with some portraits in a local park.
